"What has struck me the most about Andy's book is the readability. For an engineering book on what many think is a difficult cocktail party topic, Andy has condensed the information to the essential information without glossing over the topics. For example, in the MSA chapter, 'All measurements are wrong' starts off a wonderful chapter on the whys, hows and practical information on doing and analysis Measurement System Analysis. This is a must read for any engineer in the design, manufacture, process, or movement of product."
Ken
Rayment "Andy has kept his book practical; meaning that he discusses the various statistical techniques without burying them in theoretical details. This allows him to devote the majority of his discussion to (1) illustrating the proper application of the methods and (2) explaining how to correctly interpret and respond to the experimental results. I believe Andy's approach achieves the right balance for the majority of practicing Black Belts; not too theoretical, not to simplistic, yet extremely useful. "You will discover that this book is written in a straightforward approach, making the concepts presented easy to understand. It is packed with lots of practical, real-life examples based on Andy's extensive experiences applying these methods in companies from numerous industries. Most of these case studies highlight what the data can tell us and what they can't. As an added benefit, he includes numerous step-by-step demonstrations of how to use Excel and/or MINITAB to handle the mundane 'number-crunching' involved with most statistical analyses. "This book would definitely make an excellent addition to every Black Belt's library, especially if he or she is involved with product and/or process design." - from the Foreword by Davis R. Bothe "Fantastic! I read it cover to cover!" - Andy Sleeper |
